Masala Chai | Organic

In India, masala chai is far more than a drink—it’s a daily ritual and a symbol of hospitality. Every family has its own treasured recipe, with the balance of spices varying from region to region and even from one home to the next. Our Masala Chai honours this rich tradition by combining premium black tea with the classic warming spices that have defined authentic chai for generations. Brewed with milk and sweetened to taste, it creates a deeply satisfying cup that’s both bold and beautifully aromatic.

Our Blend:

  • Black tea – Black Tea forms the heart of traditional masala chai. Since tea cultivation expanded throughout India during the nineteenth century, strong black tea has become the robust foundation that carries the blend’s rich spices. (shop for Organic Black Tea)
  • Cinnamon – Cinnamon has travelled the ancient spice routes for millennia and remains one of the signature ingredients of traditional chai. Its naturally sweet warmth beautifully balances the livelier spices while creating chai’s comforting aroma. (shop for Cinnamon)
  • Cardamom – Often called the “Queen of Spices,” Cardamom has been treasured in Indian cooking and Ayurveda for thousands of years. Traditionally prepared in chai and herbal infusions associated with digestive comfort, it contributes the bright, floral fragrance that defines authentic masala chai.
  • Black peppercorns – Black Pepper has been cultivated in southern India for over two thousand years and was once known as ‘black gold’ because of its extraordinary value in international trade. Traditionally included in many Ayurvedic spice blends, it contributes gentle warmth and a subtle peppery finish that lifts the entire cup.
  • Ginger – Ginger has been central to Indian cuisine and Ayurvedic tradition for thousands of years. Traditionally enjoyed as a warming botanical associated with digestive comfort and everyday wellbeing, it gives masala chai much of its lively spice and unmistakable character. (shop for Ginger)
  • Cloves – Once among the world’s most valuable spices, Cloves travelled from Indonesia through ancient trading routes to become an essential ingredient in Indian spice blends. Their rich aroma and warming depth are fundamental to the flavour of traditional chai. (shop for Cloves)
  • Fennel – Fennel has long been enjoyed throughout India as both a culinary spice and a traditional after-meal digestive. Its gentle sweetness softens the bolder spices while adding the subtle anise notes that bring harmony to the blend.

Masala Chai is bold, rich and deeply aromatic. Fragrant cardamom greets the senses before warming ginger, cinnamon and cloves unfold across the palate, while black pepper adds gentle heat and fennel finishes with delicate natural sweetness. Prepared traditionally with milk, it becomes a luxuriously smooth and comforting tea that celebrates one of India’s greatest culinary traditions.

Preparation:

Add 2 teaspoons of dried herb mix to a cup of boiling water. Steep for 5-10 minutes, then strain. Add milk of choice and enjoy. Whether for a rich and warming morning cup or a soothing afternoon ritual. Savor its bold, spiced flavors and inviting aroma as part of your daily tea experience.

  1. Greg

As someone new to herbal teas, I found this one a bit too earthy for my taste. The aroma was nice, but the flavour didn’t quite match. I might try a fruitier blend next time instead.

surprised how much we like this Chai. My partner and I are both Chai-sters and have been searching for ages and so happy we have found your site. This is a great Chai, which we both take with Almond Milk and Raw Honey.

I honestly didn’t expect to be this impressed. The quality is exceptional, and the flavour is authentic. It’s been years since I’ve had chai this good. So glad I discovered this tea at Restore Herbal Tea.
