Organic Matcha Tea

For centuries, Matcha has been treasured in Japan for its vibrant colour, distinctive flavour and unique place in the Japanese tea ceremony. Made from carefully shade-grown tea leaves that are finely stone-ground into a delicate powder, Matcha is traditionally whisked with hot water to create a smooth, velvety cup, but is equally at home in lattes, smoothies and baking.

A Tradition of Mindfulness

Matcha has been central to the Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu) since the 12th century. More than simply preparing tea, the ceremony celebrates mindfulness, harmony and respect, with each cup prepared using a bamboo whisk (chasen) and tea bowl (chawan) as part of a centuries-old tradition.

Traditional Preparation

1 teaspoon (about 2g) of Matcha into a bowl. Add a small amount of hot water (around 80°C) and whisk briskly with a bamboo whisk until smooth and frothy. Top up with more hot water, or add steamed milk for a creamy Matcha latte.
